    Position Title: Executive Director

    Reports To: NEGCOA President/Board of Directors

    Employment Type: Full-time

    Position Summary:

    The New England Golf Course Owners Association (NEGCOA) is seeking a dynamic and strategic Executive Director to lead our organization into its next chapter. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of golf in New England by supporting course owners, growing membership, and driving industry advocacy. The NEGCOA is comprised of over 200 member clubs and seeks to increase that number. The Executive Director manages all aspects of the association – including membership, administration, events, advocacy, and communications. This position is full-time and is considered hybrid (time in the office along with remote access). Travel is required for events and industry meetings.

    Compensation & Benefits:

    Base Salary: $75,000 - $85,000

    Professional Development: Expenses for membership dues, continuing education and professional development, including travel, will be covered.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Leadership & Strategic Planning:

    • Serve as the primary administrator of NEGCOA, providing leadership and strategic support to the Board of Directors and various committees.
    • Develop and implement short- and long-term objectives in alignment with NEGCOA’s mission, including initiatives focused on increasing membership and diversifying revenue streams.
    • Represent NEGCOA at local, regional, and national industry events, building strong relationships with the NGCOA, industry partners, and other key stakeholders.
    • Ensure the successful execution of the association’s programs and activities, focusing on delivering value to members and the association's growth.
    • Work closely with the NGCOA and fellow Affiliate Executive Directors on initiatives that aid at the National and local level. Serve as a resource for the NGCOA.

    2. Membership Growth & Engagement:

    • Lead initiatives to increase membership and retention, including targeted outreach to potential new members.
    • Manage the membership application process, renewals, and records, ensuring timely and effective communication of membership benefits.
    • Collaborate with the Board on recruitment and engagement strategies, offering creative solutions to grow and sustain the member base.
    • Oversee programs and services that directly benefit members’ professional development and enhance the value of NEGCOA membership.

    3. Financial Management & Sponsorship Fundraising:

    • Work with the Treasurer, prepare and manage the annual budget to ensure the association's financial stability. Propose dues or fee changes to the Board as necessary.
    • Work with the Treasurer, provide monthly financial reports to the Board.
    • Oversee membership billing, event registration fees, and sponsorship funds, ensuring timely payments and accurate record-keeping.
    • Drive revenue-generating opportunities, including sponsorships, and partnerships with industry partners.
    • Oversee the Golden Passport to New England Golf fundraising program, including club recruitment, Passport printing, sales, shipping, and marketing.
    • Explore and implement additional revenue streams to support the organization as directed by the Board.

    4. Event & Education Management:

    • Plan and execute NEGCOA’s full calendar of events, including, but not limited to, the Spring Meeting, Annual Golf Outing, any additional educational seminars, and Annual Conference. Coordinate additional chapter gatherings at national meetings (Golf Business Conference, National Golf Day, Tech Con).
    • Work closely with the Education Committee to ensure that educational meetings, including the Spring Meeting and Annual Conference, have relevant and high-quality content.
    • Oversee event logistics such as venue arrangements, speaker coordination, contract negotiation, and event promotion.
    • Coordinate NEGCOA’s participation in the Golf Business Conference, National Golf Day, and all additional meetings where our members will be present, handling hospitality and member engagement.

    5. Communications & Public Relations:

    • Manage all communication efforts, including newsletters, website updates, social media, and other digital content, ensuring consistent and timely messaging.
    • Serve as a liaison between NEGCOA and allied associations, representing the chapter in various industry forums and ensuring collaboration with other key organizations.
    • Enhance the NEGCOA brand and visibility within the golf industry.

    6. Administration & Operations:

    • Maintain all chapter records, ensuring legal, historical, and financial documentation is organized and accessible.
    • Ensure compliance with state and federal reporting requirements, including tax filings and financial reviews.
    • Serve as the point of contact for members, sponsors, and industry.
    • Responsible for on-boarding new members and tracking ownership and staffing changes throughout the region.

    Essential Qualifications/Skills:

    • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
    • Proven leadership experience in association management, the golf industry, or a related field.
    • Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
    • Passion for member engagement, advocacy, and event planning.
    • Familiarity with tools like Quickbooks Online, Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Eventbrite, Canva, social media platforms and website management.

    Position Summary

    The Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for the care, maintenance, and presentation of Agawam’s golf course, tennis courts, and grounds. The role oversees agronomy, staffing, budgeting, equipment, and capital projects to ensure consistently excellent playing conditions while balancing environmental stewardship.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Maintain the golf course and tennis grounds to premier private club standards. 
    • Plan and manage fertility, irrigation, drainage, aeration, Pest Management programs.
    • Lead and mentor maintenance staff; recruit, train, and evaluate team members.
    • Manage operating and capital budgets; oversee purchasing and inventory.
    • Direct equipment maintenance, safety, and compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
    • Partner with The Nature Conservancy to apply sustainable practices that balance conditioning with conservation.
    • Plan and oversee course projects, renovations, and seasonal cultural practices.
    Candidate Profile
    • Degree or certificate in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or related field preferred.
    • 6+ years of progressive golf course management experience, private club experience strongly preferred.
    • Demonstrated success managing cool-season turf and classic Donald Ross style courses.
    • Experience with construction, renovation, and grow-in projects.
    • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
    • Spanish fluency a plus.
    • Rhode Island pesticide applicator license (or ability to obtain within 90 days).

    Compensation & Benefits

    Equipment Manager Position

    About Pocasset Golf Club

    Founded in 1916, Pocasset Golf Club started as a 9-hole golf course. In the early 1920s, legendary designer Donald Ross redesigned the original nine holes and added an additional nine, creating layouts that remain a testament to his vision. The Club is set on 120 acres of rolling, natural terrain. Since becoming a private club in 1989, the course has undergone a full restoration in the classic Ross tradition. Forse Design, the club’s architect since 2001, continues to guide course enhancements, including an updated master plan scheduled for implementation in the fall of 2025.

    Position Summary

    The Equipment Manager (EM) plays a critical role in the success of Pocasset Golf Club’s operations. Reporting to the Golf Course Superintendent, the EM oversees a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for all golf course equipment and communicates effectively regarding any maintenance or repair needs.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Maintain a preventive maintenance program for all golf course equipment.
    • Ensure exceptional quality of cut on all mowers through correct reel and bedknife grinding.
    • Diagnose and repair gasoline and diesel engine issues.
    • Prioritize and complete equipment repairs and maintenance.
    • Purchase repair parts, replacement supplies, and shop tools.
    • Keep accurate records of equipment conditions, inventory purchases, repair costs, and maintenance schedules.
    • Conduct spot checks for equipment performance on the course.
    • Maintain a clean, organized maintenance shop.
    • Track and purchase fuel supplies.
    • Coordinate with the Superintendent and Assistants on scheduling and equipment availability.
    • Assist the Superintendent with equipment purchasing and leasing programs.
    • Train staff in safe operation and cleaning of equipment.

    Sharon Country Club

    Sharon Country Club, located in Sharon Massachusetts, is a private ten-hole club with a driving range and short game practice area. Sharon Country Club was established in 1898. We currently have an opening for the assistant superintendent position, see the job description below.

    Assistant Golf Course Superintendent

    The assistant golf course superintendent reports directly to the golf course superintendent. Under the superintendent’s supervision the assistant superintendent directs and participates in the maintenance of the golf course. The assistant superintendent may serve in the superintendent’s capacity during his/her absence.

    Typical Functions:

    Assists in the planning and supervising the maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, and other landscape areas.  Schedule’s work supervises the employees, and the use of equipment.

    Instructs equipment operators on the operation, care of mowing.

    Apply pesticides and fertilizers and takes care of the sprayer to ensure proper application of pesticides and fertilizers and keeps accurate records.

    Participates in the operation and maintenance of pumps, irrigation system, and drainage systems. Able to repair Toro 670, 750, and 800 series sprinklers.

    Assist in the maintenance and repair of motorized and other mechanical equipment.

    Assists in personal management and evaluation, employee safety, discipline and may also modify the daily work schedule based on professional interpretation.

    Projects:

    The design phase for a new irrigation system is starting this fall. 

    Employment Standards:

    Working knowledge of the maintenance of golf course tees, fairways, greens; the seeding and maintenance practices for golf course turf; the planting, cultivating, pruning, and caring for plants, shrubs and trees; the characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers and soil conditioners; herbicides and pest control methods and materials; drainage control methods; and irrigation system, including wells, pumps and automatic controls. Ability to schedule, supervise maintenance work to achieve the most efficient utilization of workers and equipment; to prepare clear and concise reports; and to maintain effective employee relations.

    Possession of a valid driver's license.

    Required to have a current Massachusetts pesticide applicator license or obtain one within sixty days.

    You must have a minimum of two years of golf course maintenance experience and a turf certificate.

    Salary: 60k to 75k depending on experience.

    Hours: In season 43 to 48, off season 40.

    The Town of Brewster is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Maintenance Mechanic for the Captains Golf Course. This position is responsible for maintaining turf equipment and repairing all vehicles, machinery and equipment used by the golf department.

    The Maintenance Mechanic will inspect, diagnose, and repair a wide variety of equipment, including mowers, sprayers, aerators, hydraulic motors, and gas, diesel, and electric powered vehicles; testing equipment to ensure it is safe and in proper working order. Grinds bed knives and reels. Operates a range of department equipment including mowers, loaders, and tractors to assist in the care and maintenance of the golf course. Maintains knowledge and skill in MIG & TIG welding.

    High School diploma and a minimum of three years of experience in mechanical repairs and equipment maintenance or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. 2A and 1C hoisting licenses required or the ability to obtain licenses in the first six months of employment. The ideal candidate will be a team player with previous golf equipment maintenance experience.

    This is a full-time, year-round 40 hour a week position covered by the Service Employees International Union agreement with a pay range of $29.09 - $35.77 per hour, starting pay dependent on qualifications and experience.

    Position Opening: Golf Course Equipment Manager

    Job Summary: The Golf Course Equipment Manager (GCEM) will be a key member of the Golf Management Team responsible for providing excellent playing conditions for the members and guests of Hyannisport Club. The GCEM plays a significant role in ensuring that all golf course equipment is operating at peak performance, which directly contributes to the presentation and consistency of all playing surfaces.

    Course Description Hyannisport Club is a private 18-hole Donald Ross designed seaside links overlooking Nantucket Sound located in the village of Hyannis Port on Cape Cod. Rich in American Golf History, Hyannisport Club was established in 1897 as a 6-hole golfing ground laid out by summer resident John Reid, a founding father of the USGA. In 1902, Alex Findlay, the "Father of American Golf' was hired to improve and expand the property to a 9- hole golf course. After acquiring additional land in 1913, the club hired noted golf professional and architect Donald Ross to expand/reconfigure Hyannisport Club to an 18-hole golf course. With the purchase of an additional 40 acres in 1930, Ross would once again redesign existing holes and add new golf holes as we know it today.

    Working with Golf Course Architect Ron Forse, Hyannisport Club continues to implement course improvements based on the original Donald Ross hole by hole blueprints. Hyannisport Club is recognized as a Certified Audubon Sanctuary Golf Course and is consistently ranked as one of the top golf courses in Massachusetts.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Ensure that all golf course equipment is in excellent operating condition
    • Develop and perform preventative maintenance on all golf course equipment
    • Ensures excellent quality of cut through precision reel/bedknife grinding
    • Diagnose and repair mechanical problems as required
    • Communicate daily equipment needs with G.C. Superintendent and Assistants
    • Maintains a clean, organized and safe workshop
    • Manages the equipment parts inventory, shop supplies, fuel and lubricants
    • Train staff in the safe and proper use of equipment

    Requirements Looking for a highly motivated candidate who is a Team player and is willing to go the extra yard to make a difference each day. Prior experience as a successful Golf Course Equipment Manager, Assistant Equipment Manager or Mechanic. Candidate must have a valid Driver's License.

    Education  High School Diploma or Equivalent
