The Country Club is seeking an individual eager for professional growth within our company and the industry. Monthly meetings with the Director of Grounds and leadership team will provide direct exposure to agronomic planning, budgeting, and human resource management, ensuring well-rounded professional development.

The Country Club recently began a major clubhouse renovation that includes installation of a geothermal well field beneath the 15th fairway. Restoring this hole will require new irrigation, drainage, and design work - offering significant project management experience. The Club will also host two USGA championships within the next eight years, providing valuable exposure to championship-level preparation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Golf Course Superintendent in providing the membership with the best possible course and grounds conditions
  • Lead and take part in managing all aspects of a large-scale golf course maintenance operation
  • Involvement in daily operations and management meetings
  • Participate in Agronomy Department’s Staff Development Program with exposure to: Irrigation, Plant Health Applications, Cultural Equipment Setup, Equipment Maintenance, Project Management, Budget and Payroll Management, and Managerial/Club Operations
  • Attend Grounds Committee Meetings when Golf Calendar allows
  • Work with leadership team to maintain a culture that results in successful, career-oriented, professionals
  • Chemical and fertilizer programs, applications and record keeping
  • Course set up
  • Tournament preparation
  • Hand watering and turf grass stress management
  • Topdressing program and application
  • Tree maintenance
  • Hazard maintenance
  • Responsible for training new employees before the use of all machinery
  • Snow removal

Required Skills:

  • 2 or 4-year degree in Turf Grass Management, Certificate, or related field is preferred
  • Golf course maintenance experience is preferred
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
  • Ability to make quick decisions

Preferred Licenses & Memberships:

  • Attain a Massachusetts CORE Pesticide License within the first 90 days of employment
  • Attain both a 2A and 1C Hoisting License within the first 90 days of employment
  • Golf Course Superintendent’s Association of America (GCSAA) Membership
  • Golf Course Superintendent’s Association of New England (GCSANE) Membership

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand for 8 to 10 hours
  • Able to lift to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to arrive at work at unusually early hours
  • Must be able to work outside for 10- 12 hour days
