UMass Amherst WINTER SCHOOL FOR TURF MANAGERS is a comprehensive professional certificate program that provides participants with the fundamentals essential to maintaining high quality turf systems based on environmental stewardship and fiscal responsibility.
Winter School 2018 will run January 8 - February 16. Students attend classes full time, Monday through Friday, for about 32 hours each week. Courses are held at the UMass Amherst campus and are taught by UMass faculty and staff and select guest lecturers.
Who should attend? Practitioners who want to expand their knowledge and practical skills but are unable to schedule a degree program. Turf and grounds managers who desire to take their career to the next level. Those who want to learn about the profession and enter the field.
For eligible private sector employers in Massachusetts, Winter School tuition may be partially reimbursed through the Massachusetts Workforce Training Fund Express Grant Program. Employers should submit an online application to the Express Grant program at least 6 weeks in advance of UMass Winter School starting date. Space for Winter School 2018 is limited, but seats are still available. The preferred application deadline is October 31, 2017.
